Our center is also a general dermatology referral centre, and we diagnose and treat all types of common and rare skin conditions. These include:
1. Psoriasis, eczema etc
Psoriasis, eczema, urticaria and other rashes are amongst the most common skin diseases encountered. Although skin diseases are seldom fatal, we recognize the impact it can have on daily life. Chronic conditions like psoriasis can have impaired quality of life (QOL) to a great a degree as patients with major illnesses like heart disease, cancer or depression. The sad truth is that skin disease has much greater social penalties than other medical diseases like diabetes where the disease is not so visible or stigmatizing. We care and we empathize with our patients with skin challenges.
2. Acne (pimples, ‘zits’)
This is one of the most common skin conditions troubling adolescents as well as adults. Many types of acne can scar if not treated adequately, leading to physical as well as psychological scarring. Fortunately, very safe and effective treatments (eg oral isotretinoin) are now available that can virtually eradicate acne and prevent scarring. Do not wait to seek proper treatments until it is too late.

Severe Acne
3. Skin Allergies
Although more of an occupational hazard, up to 10% of women suffer from contact allergies to metals, fragrance and preservatives. This is a result of ear-piercing and the use of cosmetics. Diagnosis may be easy or an allergy test may be necessary. We offer patch testing for contact allergies.
4. Skin infections
We offer diagnostic and therapeutic services for common viral, bacterial and fungal skin infections. Laboratory testing can be done on the spot or sent to reference labs for analysis, with results usually within the week.

5. Skin tumours
We see a variety of skin growths in the young and the old. Many of these are benign but some of these are pre-cancerous or cancerous especially in the expatriate population. We offer diagnostic biopsy facilities as well as cryosurgery, cold knife surgical and radiosurgical facilities for excision or ablation of skin tumours.

6. Hair problems
Hair problems involve either too much hair or too little hair. We do not offer hyped-up treatments but only scientifically tested treatments for whatever is diagnosed. Too often we are only consulted after expensive and useless visits to hair care centres which are not even run by doctors.

Hair Loss
7. Nail problems
Dermatologists are also responsible for looking after nail problems many of which are not fungus-related but treated as such with expensive courses of anti-fungals. We offer diagnostic facilities to determine the diagnosis before embarking on therapy. We also offer treatment for ingrown toenails – wedge resection of the nail with selective electrosurgical matrix destruction.
